RBI Grade B Interview - Unconventional wisdom - It's not what it looks like!

Important but unconventional wisdom from my experience of RBI interview, Corporate sector and consulting.

  1. It doesn't matter if you are unable to answer a few questions. I myself couldn't answer 7-8 questions and still scored marks in 40s

  2. It's completely fine even if you haven't appeared in any mock or haven't prepared any notes. Interview is not about your knowledge. Refer point 5

  3. Don't judge yourself during your interview. Mr Singhal told me I lack knowledge related to economics and banking and I am not fit for the job. Don't take any feedback seriously. Be thick skinned.

  4. You can lie but please make sure you story is consistent through out the interview. Not an easy thing to do.

  5. Structure your answers well and speak like a professional. Your attitude is more important than your actual answer.

  6. Don't treat anyone like demigods. Panel members are ordinary human beings and treat them like one. Just be humble and respectful, but not timid.

  7. Work on your filler words. Filler words are short, meaningless words (or sounds) we use to fill the little pauses that occur while we decide what we’re going to say next. They’re the ums and uhs and ers that litter our conversations whether we like it or not. Be silent instead.

  8. Be calm throughout the interview.

  9. Most important, enjoy the experience. Success or failure is not going to matter after 1-2 years. Don't worry about the result. Enjoy the process.
